Electrolysis and water treatment
DC power solutions for electrochemical water and electrolysis processes
Electrochemical processes are widely established in water treatment and industrial water production. They are used in drinking water and service water applications, swimming pool water disinfection, wastewater treatment, and the production of circulation, process, or ultrapure water—for example in the chemical, glass, electronics, pharmaceutical, and food industries, in power plants, or in laboratory environments.
plating electronic supplies POWER STATION DC solutions engineered for energy-efficient operation, stable process control, and reliable integration into plant control systems.
A broad application range beyond water
Electrolysis technologies also support additional applications, such as:
- Production of chlorine (Cl₂), hydrogen (H₂) and other basic chemicals for industry and research
- Recycling processes, e.g., recovery of precious metals and valuable materials from process solutions and rinse water
- Renewable energy, especially hydrogen production for mobility, storage, and Power-to-X applications
Different processes, different requirements
Depending on the process, load profiles, voltage and current ranges, and requirements for control behaviour, dynamics, and interfaces can vary significantly. We support engineering of the right solution for your process window, including control integration, protection concepts, and system integration.
Typical processes include:
- Electrolysis, e.g., chlorine or water electrolysis for basic chemicals or hydrogen production
- Electrode ionisation (EDI), a continuous process for ultrapure water using membrane stacks, used for boiler feed water, process water, or laboratory water
- Electrodialysis (ED), separating saline solutions into components using DC voltage and selective membranes, used in water, process, and food applications
- Electrocoagulation, electrochemical wastewater pre-treatment using sacrificial anodes and DC voltage to precipitate suspended particles
Advice for your application
If you are designing, upgrading, or stabilizing a system, we are happy to advise on system concept, power technology, and integration—so your process runs reliably and remains economically sustainable over time.
